Manchester United are preparing a summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund captain, Mats Hummels. The long-term target has been subject of a host of rumours this window, but looks to complete the season with the struggling Dortmund side.
Klopp’s men currently sit in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga, leading to speculation regarding his key players. Marco Reus and Neven Subotic have also been linked to United since United old boy Shinji Kagawa reunited with his German team-mates.
According to the Daily Mail, United are preparing a £37 million summer bid for Hummels, who could be one of many Dortmund stars to leave the seemingly sinking ship.
It would be hard to imagine the club captain leaving mid-way through their worst season in modern football, especially considering the little time they have to line up a replacement.
Hummels remains a key figure at the Signal Iduna Park, despite his never-ending injury problems. Perhaps he would fit in perfectly at United, for just that reason.
Six months of speculations is what most Manchester United supporters should be expecting, but if the interest is genuine, fending off interest from other top European clubs will be harder than prizing the defender away from Dortmund.
